What is Ampicillin?
Ampicillin works by fighting bacteria in the body to treat infections. The active ingredient Ampicillin belongs to a class of medications called penicillin antibiotics. The medication can be used to treat bacterial infections such as E. coli, salmonella, gonorrhea, pneumonia, bronchitis as well as bladder, skin, lung, ear and urinary tract infections. The capsules can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How is it used?
It should be taken every 6 hours daily or as directed by a doctor. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach, 2 hours after or 1 hour prior to eating a meal. The medicine should be taken with plenty of fluids throughout the treatment. Contact a doctor for the correct length of treatment and dosage as it will depend on the condition of the patient and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication until the prescribed amount is fully completed as abruptly stopping the treatment may cause the infection to return and allow the bacteria to be immune to the antibiotics.

Adverse effects
It may cause unwanted side effects such as:

  • Oral thrush
  • Mouth or tongue sores
  • Upset stomach
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:

· Fever or flu like symptoms

· Difficulty breathing or swallowing

· Vaginal yeast infection

· Seizures

· Easy bruising or bleeding

· Jaundice

Warnings
immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

It is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.

The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.

    What is Dapsone?
Dapsone is an anti-infective type of medication that fights bacteria. The medication works by stopping the growth of bacteria to decrease inflammation. It is mainly prescribed in the treatment of leprosy, the rare disease caused by a type of bacteria called Mycobacterium leprae. Some patients might also use the tablets to treat a certain type of skin disorder called dermatitis herpetiformis, an itchy blistering rash associated with coeliac disease. The drug can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

    How is Dapsone used?
Dapsone is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
